So you are ready to take the skills test…
The first thing to do is to go to the QTS Registration page and fill in your details. The first test is free and after that, you can take it two more times, at the cost of £19.25.
When booking the test online, you will be required to type your post code but if you prefer another center, close to your work place, that can also be arranged.
You can make special arrangements or ask for extra time for your numeracy skills test if English is not your native language or if you have dyscalculia or visual impairment.
When going to take the test, make sure you are early and you have two proofs of your ID and your offer from the school university. Mobile phones are not allowed, most centers will give you a locker to leave it.
Before starting the test, you will be given some paper or mini white board to use for the working out.
If you have had problems during the test, you could have an extra attempt to the test. Some good reason to appeal the test result could be :
- your headphones were not working properly
- you asked for more paper and nobody was around to give it to you
- you were eligible for extra time but did not know
When given the proof of passing the test, remember to keep it and to check online if the results of your skills tests are updated on the website.
